I find when we have reached the midway point of any ceramics lesson in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades I need some sort of 'challenge" project to keep the sillies at bay. Often times we will have projects in the kiln or waiting to be fired so the students won't have something to work on for a class. Enter this one for my 5th graders.
One point perspective is a challenging concept for many at this stage so I don't want to introduce it to them if they aren't ready. There is nothing worse than not "seeing" what you are trying to draw, but this class had several students who were definitely seeing the challenge and ready to attempt it.
See? Totally ready.
