Wednesday Works - Dr Seuss cats - new lesson for 1st grade

I'm continuing on in my pursuit of new lesson plans for my curriculum and this one seems like a good one so far.   I may have to fiddle around with some parts but what I'm seeing so far may work well.    I think the next time around I'll have the kids make the colored paper clothing first, then draw their cats wearing them.

We looked at these and talked about Seuss.

Then we talked about cats and what makes a cat a cat.

Also what made this cat different than the ones Dr Seuss made.

Then we drew our cats wearing clothing!

Wednesday Works (Thursday edition) Coil Pots with 4th grade

Oh how I love when the students in my class take a small hint of an idea and FLY with it!

I talked about the basics of a coil pot, we used a pinch pot base (and reviewed what we did last year with our owls) and then I showed them a few photos from a google search.

 And off they went!....

Stay tuned for more when we finish with these snow days!
